Hegarty House / Updated 11 September 2026
Environment & hosting
A useful website should not ask your device to do more than it needs to.
Our approach is to keep these websites straightforward, reuse what works and make environmental claims only where we have evidence.
Small, practical choices
These pages use ordinary HTML, CSS and a small amount of JavaScript. Their fonts are already available on your device, rather than downloaded from a font service. We reuse the approved design and artwork instead of adding new decorative assets to every page.
In this update, the signature artwork used on Sean's pages has a smaller lossless web version with the same dimensions and decoded pixels. The approved master is retained. Videos remain user-controlled, with captions and text alternatives preserved where supplied. No environmental badge script, visitor tracking or extra third-party font service has been added.
We treat accessibility as part of this work. Reducing file sizes must not remove useful text, captions, controls or access to information.
What our hosting provider reports
Our hosting provider is IONOS. IONOS reports that its own data centres run on 100% renewable electricity. That is a statement about the provider's own data centres, not a measurement of the whole environmental impact of this website or our business.
Verified green hosting
The Green Web Foundation Green Web Check reports evidence that hegartyhouse.co.uk runs on green energy and identifies IONOS SE as the hosting provider. The verification badge on this site is stored locally and links back to the Foundation's current domain check.
This verifies the hosting evidence for this domain. It is not a claim that Hegarty House Ltd, every supplier, or the whole lifecycle of the website is carbon neutral, net zero or zero-impact.
Provider information checked: 11 September 2026.
Our practical environmental commitment
We want to avoid waste in the way we work, not just talk about it.
- Keep our websites useful and lightweight, while preserving accessibility and the information people actually need.
- Offer digital materials where they suit the task, while keeping print and alternative formats available when people need them.
- Make equipment last where safe and practical, considering repair and reuse before replacement and responsible recycling at end of life.
- Consider environmental evidence alongside quality, accessibility, cost and reliability when choosing suppliers.
- Use online meetings where they work well, and plan necessary travel sensibly without making participation less accessible.
- Reuse approved creative assets and scope AI work carefully rather than repeatedly generating material with no clear use.
We review this approach quarterly and update public claims when evidence changes.
What we are not claiming
These websites and the business are not presented as carbon neutral, net zero, zero-impact or environmentally certified. We do not publish a verified whole-business carbon footprint here, and smaller files are not a measurement of carbon saved.
Hosting is only one part of the picture. Our hosting statement does not cover visitors' devices and connections, equipment manufacture, AI used during development, book production and delivery, travel, or services operated by Amazon, Acuity, UW and other suppliers.
Questions or suggestions
Email hello@hegartyhouse.co.uk. We would rather describe a practical improvement accurately than make a bigger claim we cannot support.
